El Trigal de la Martina
About This Spot
El Trigal de la Martina unfolds like a welcoming neighborhood refuge tucked just off Av. de Cuba, where the rhythms of Palencia slow down enough to savor each moment. Walking in, you’re greeted by an ambiance that balances the ease of a casual bar with the thoughtful care of a well-loved grill and restaurant. There’s a comforting hum of conversation weaving through the space, where locals and visitors alike settle in under warm lighting that feels both familiar and inviting.
The pace here encourages you to lean into the simple pleasure of shared meals. The layout, cozy yet well-organized with intimate tables, nurtures a sense of connection—whether you’re catching up with friends or quietly watching the lively display of colorful tapas lining the bar. It’s a place where genuine hospitality quietly anchors the experience; staff move with a calm attentiveness, ready to offer guidance and thoughtful suggestions that ease the uncertainty of menu choices, especially if you’re less familiar with Spanish flavors.
Food at El Trigal de la Martina is less about elaborate presentation and more about rich, satisfying flavors that speak of tradition. From the subtle smokiness of grilled seafood to the hearty comfort of a perfectly cooked entrecot, each dish carries a story of local ingredients and care. The pairing of dishes with well-selected wines or a casually poured cerveza feels natural rather than forced, inviting you to discover your own favorite combinations. Tapas appear almost like little invitations to share—plates of fresh fish, tender grilled chorizo, or surprise seasonal vegetables creating a mosaic of tastes that gently unfold over time.
Evenings here take on a relaxed quality, with the occasional clink of glasses and soft chatter blending into a warm soundtrack of human moments. The covered terrace extends this feeling outdoors, perfect for lingering as the day fades, making it a gem for those who look beyond the menu toward the experience of dining itself.

I cannot recommend this place enough! Everything from the hospitality, quality of service and amazing food made me come here twice! The gentleman, despite my bad Spanish language level, took the time to explain to me all the dishes and share recommendations. All the dishes and wines were beautifully paired. I recommend to be advised by the server on what to have if one is not fully familiar with the Spanish cuisine. I highly recommend coming here!

Burger and chips on a busy corner was typical WYSIWYG. Good quality and service. Nicer inside than out.

Traditionell Spanish Bar & Grill - An outstanding Spanish grill experience! The portions are gigantic, ensuring you’ll leave satisfied. Quality is great but remember that you are in a bar. Loved the unique touch of displaying tapas at the bar for selection – and the very friendly staff.

Had a great lunch! As we were with our dog we were sat in the tent outside, which was very warm and service was perfect. We had the lunch menu, food came out quickly and was very delicious. The red velvet cake and the house white wine were excellent!
